Design Thinking

Set of ideas and insights to address problems related to future information acquisition, knowledge analysis and proposed solutions. Adopted by individuals and organizations, mainly in the business world, as well as in engineering and contemporary design, design thinking has seen its influence grow among several disciplines today, as a way to approach and solve problems.

Theory U

It proposes that the quality of the results that we create in any type of social system depends on the quality of attention, presence and awareness that the participants show. It offers incredible tools that aim to reconnect the individual with himself, with others and with the environment through a powerful system. It also includes the Theater of Social Presence as a way of incorporating the processes of the method.


It is a methodology that offers a governance system that operates from the bottom up through a circular structure. It is composed of powerful tools for decision making, conflict resolution, election of representatives in organizations and decentralized management. In fact, sociocracy could offer a whole new way of governing a company, school and even a country with a distributed power structure.

Nonviolent Communication

A communication model that aims to make the communication process more compassionate and humane. Rosenberg realized that most people want to communicate empathetically, but they don't have the vocabulary to express feelings and needs. It is a powerful conflict resolution and self-knowledge tool, essential in any type of organization that aims to offer a welcoming space for its members.

Systemic Thinking

It is the basis of all the methodologies presented here. In fact, it is the updating of modern science for the 21st century. It is an approach that aims to see the world as a network, as a tangle of complex relationships that adapt according to their interactions. We can say that a system is a set of parts that interact with each other. The root of systemic thinking lies in the idea that each part of the system influences the whole (which in turn is greater than the individual sum of the parts).

The Reconnecting Work

It is a free set of activities, which has Joanna Macy as a root teacher, and has emerged more than 40 years ago as a direct response to the social, ecological and economic crises of our time. It seeks to understand and face these challenges with a lucid gaze and an open heart, and invites us to reconnect with us, with beings and with the healing power that comes from interdependent life. It involves the innate connections we have with all beings and inspires us to assume our role in creating a society that promotes and sustains life.

Theater of the Oppressed

Developed by Brazilian theater director Augusto Boal. Their explorations were based on the assumption that dialogue is the common and healthy dynamic among all human beings, that all human beings desire and are capable of dialogue and that, when a dialogue becomes a monologue, oppression begins. The theater then becomes an extraordinary tool for transforming the monologue into dialogue. “While some people do theater,” says Boal, “we are all theater”. This methodology is essential to empower social designers and get organizations to engage in the regeneration process in the first person through a playful and gamified approach.

Pedagogy of the Oppressed

Proposed by Paulo Freire in 1968 as the new vision of liberating education. We live in a society where we experience an eternal cycle of oppression. And within this cycle, the oppressed person's greatest dream is to become an oppressor. The pedagogy of the oppressed aims to break this cycle and give the oppressed the option of breaking the oppressive currents of the educational system. Through a compassionate and sober vision, Paulo Freire revolutionized education and built the basis for what we now call facilitation. It is the pedagogical approach that underlies CollabDesign in all educational aspects. Paulo Freire is often cited as the indirect creator of CollabDesign.

Liberating Structures

Conventional structures are either too inhibitory (presentations, status reports and managed discussions) or too loose and disorganized (open discussions and brainstorms) to creatively engage people in shaping their own future. These structures often generate feelings of frustration and / or exclusion and fail to provide space for good ideas to arise and germinate. Liberating structures introduce small changes in the way we come together, plan, decide and relate to each other. They put the power of innovation, previously reserved only for specialists, in the hands of everyone.


It is an adventure for new ways to co-create a new standard of living that takes complexity, interconnection and emergency into account. Designed to enable and encourage a global network of people and organizations, with the common goal of co-creating a viable future for everyone, the curriculum, learning methods and the underlying psychology have these goals in mind. H3uni's tools are incredibly simple and powerful and 100% based on collaborative processes. It is possible to develop highly complex processes with a playful approach and focused on visual facilitation.

Biomimicry 3.8

Biomimicry can be a great deal: a mental model, an innovation tool or a science. If we observe the formation of the word, we can understand its meaning more literally: bio means life, and mimesis is imitation. Biomimicry, therefore, is the imitation of life. In this way, we can summarize biomimetics in a simplified way using the title of the book by Janine Benyus: Biomimetics is innovation inspired by nature. Biomimicry is the connection between nature and design, and this is how we can understand its importance for solving problems in the contemporary world.


It is a compilation of collaborative processes that are presented as games. GameStorming seeks to stimulate people's creative spirit through a playful and fun approach. There are many processes mapped by the method and there is an entire book to be appreciated where it is possible to understand each proposal in great depth. The idea is to end this story that creativity is something restricted to the inventor geniuses. By using collaborative processes and understanding them as a game it is possible to engage teams in the most varied contexts with different needs.


It is a part of transpersonal psychology that is presented as process-oriented psychology. It was developed by Arnold Mindell and associates and focuses on somatic processes and their relationships with the dream body. Countless approaches were developed from ProcessWork. Among them we highlight Deep Democracy and WorldWork. By promoting a dialogue between Taoism, quantum physics, shamanism, concepts originating from the worldview of native peoples such as the Aborigines, Jungian psychology and countless other approaches, ProcessWork offers a powerful approach that becomes essential to support collaborative processes and conflict transformation.

Dragon Dreaming

It is a living systems approach to collaborative project design. Also inspired by Aboriginal culture, chaos and complexity theory, deep ecology and systemic thinking, Dragon Dreaming offers a meta-model that describes any type of Collaborative Design process as a living organism. This is the methodology that underlies the entire CollabDesign process. It is the pattern that reconnects, the difference that makes the difference. We are going to use the meta-model developed by John Croft in the 1990s to support the dialogue between all these approaches that are apparently so different but can be easily related from the living organisms model.

Organic Organizations

It is a self-management model inspired by Getting Things done, Sociocracy 3.0, Holacracia, Agile Methodologies and Reinvented Organizations.
